Weigh In! Yay?

This week's weigh in 235. Not a lot of progress but I need to put in more work. I helped a friend move on Saturday and then helped my dad move cabinets and a freezer back into his garage yesterday. Well after all that lifting my back hurts. Monty commented that an elliptical machine was very helpful for him. I really enjoy ellipticals and will have to use one more because there would be no impact on my knee.

I plan to lose more weight this week. I'll be watching my calories and drinking a bunch of water. I hope to be 232 or less by this time next week.

Alivia said something funny at breakfast today. She said, "I am not sitting by anybody.(" To that I said, "you are sitting by Carson." Then she said, "I want to sit by a big Human."

Odometer

Tonight before dinner I went on a ride with Carson and I pulled Alivia. Pulling an extra 40 lbs is not a cake walk. I got the Odometer on my bike to work and I now know that the track at the elementary is 1/3 of a mile. And I know that from home to the school is 1 mile. I like riding the track over there with him because it is safe with no cars. Carson is a tough kid to ride 1 mile to the school then 10 times around the track, and then a mile back home. He is a fast little bugger too. I gave him a half lap lead and tried to catch him tonight and after 6 laps I was about 100 yards behind him. Alivia loves it when we go fast. Fast for me when I pull her is about 14mph but that got me huffin and puffin and sweatin, and it makes the wind blow in her face. It was a nice ride. Plan is to ride with Carson tomorrow.

Amy and or Scott nope it isn't Bursitis in my knee it is arthritis and the doctor sees the calcification in the xray so makin fun of me for that is just as weak as my knee is sometimes. Because my knee hurts bike riding will most likely be my best form of exercise for the time being so I am glad the odometer works so I know how far I ride. Tuesday is my next weigh in.

Ultimate Frisbee

We played ultimate frisbee last night with the young men's group. I figure any running I do if it makes me sweat is a good thing. The bad thing is my stupid left knee hurts from who knows what. I have some arthritis in there under the knee cap. I know losing weight will help me with my knee. I did aggravate my knee a couple of weeks ago while playing paintball when I fell in a ditch. Good thing about the ditch being where it was is that I didn't get shot, because I fell flat on my face.

Even though my ultimate frisbee running was a gimpy run it did cause me to work up a sweat. Sweating is good. Today I'll be doing a bike ride with Carson again. Maybe this time I will pull Alivia in the pull behind stroller thinga ma bob. I am trying to cut back on my portions. Carley might not see it but I am. I am trying to eat more fruit too. This whole thing is not easy. In the past drinking water (a lot of water) has helped me lose weight. I will add a lot of water to my diet as well and will cut back on the pop. MIght even cut pop all the way out of the diet.

First Weigh In

Today is Tuesday which I have chosen to be my weigh in day every week. Last week when I weighed I was 238. Today when I weighed in I was 235.8. I will round up and say after one week that I am 236. This week I need to work much harder on eating right and exercising. They are both keys to reaching my goal and they are both hard for me. But the journey has begun and I plan to reach my goal.

Bike Ride

Let me make it clear that I am not saying that being 48 lbs overweight is gonna kill a person. It however can be a contributing factor to the things that can kill you. I do know I will be healthier if I lose the weight. Being overweight can cause someone to be a better candidate for adult onset diabetes which my mother has(these things run in families) and my dad's mother my grandmother was diabetic as well. So you see diabetes is on both sides of my family tree. I don't want to get there. My father has had multiple heart problems and being overweight can contribute strongly to that as well. So I am trying to nip that process in the bud before these problems bite me in the butt. Mock me? Support me? or Join me? I'll get there one way or another.

Today Carson and his White Jaguars had a soccer game in the morning and as the coach/ref of that game I was on the field for 40 minutes of soccer. They played really well. All of them played hard and had fun. After the game we had our team pictures.

It was a Saturday in the Fall so you guessed it I spent some time in front of the TV watching college football. I love DVR which means I can watch games so fast!!! What used to take 3-4 hours takes 1!

On with the bike ride! Carson and me went on a bike ride on his big bike. His bike he got that came with training wheels was redunkulously too small for him. So he now has a new bigger bike that for now isn't the easiest thing for him to get onto. He has to use the curb to get on it. But once on it he can ride with the best of 'em. Well him and I rode our bikes to his school which is about 1.5 miles away from our house. While at the school we went around the track there which is at least 1/4 of a mile around. So we rode around that 10 times. Then we stopped and played tetherball or as Carson likes to call it chatterball. Then we rode home. In all our bike ride was about 5-6 miles. Good for him to ride that far. He slept good that night and so did I.

Last year I was really in to riding my bike. But my shoulder had problems with it. My shoulder didn't like being in the same position for such a long time(my longest ride was about 22 miles last summer). I got bursitis in my shoulder last year and that, strangely enough made bike riding really uncomfortable. Things were ok today and we got a good ride in. Now Carson wants to do the same ride many more times before the snow flies. I hope the bike riding will help me in doing my 190.

This last week has not been a real successful one towards reaching my goal. I hope to do better.

I had a second job interview on Friday and I am excited and think I have a good shot at that job. Being unemployed even for just 3 weeks so far is scary and frustrating. I believe something good will happen soon.

What to do? What to do?

Well my first post shows up as Carley posting it. She has not ballooned to 238 lbs even with being pregnant. Carley is pregnant as you might already know. The boy will be named Daxton Gray and is due to join the family on the 13 of November. We are excited to have him join us.

The job hunt is getting frustrating. I have a couple of options that I am seriously considering and both of them involve taking a test. I am considering the option of becoming a Foreign Service Officer. This involves a test and then a long time waiting to see what will come of that. My Brother Jordan is in Law School in Florida and is really enjoying it. I am 35 soon to be 36 and if I was to consider doing the same this would really be the only time to do so. I could do it. I just don't know what is going to be the best option. I am frustrated. I thought I had a solid career in Underwriting and maybe I still will just down the road.

The weight loss thing is going to kick in and I will begin a log on the blog of what I am doing and I think that will help me to see the plan and keep accountable to it. I'll keep the blog world posted on my progress.

Unofficially Day 1

I am so excited to have my own blog!!!

I have ballooned to 238 pounds and this blog is going to hold me accountable. My goal is to get down to 190 pounds...thus the name of the blog should now make sense to all my followers. My wife is a professional blogger so I will be asking her all kinds of questions and she will scoff at some of my writing, but in the end I know she will be supportive of this goal of mine. Day one didn't start off too well because my wife made a toasty roast beef, potato, and roll dinner and I ate a few too many rolls. So Officially we won't call today day one.

I know that losing 48 pounds will not be a cake walk but I will have to walk a lot and eat less cake. I plan to weigh in weekly and photos will come soon. I hope this will keep me motivated.

I am doing this for my health, my knees hurt because they weren't built for this much weight, for my heart and to avoid diabetes which runs in the family and I am doing it for my wife and my kids. I want to be around to see my grandkids and I want to be able to play with them.

I ask for your support if you ever log in to view my blog. Right now I can squeeze my belly around my belly button and it looks like a bagel(a hairy bagel.) When all is said and done I hope to not be able to squeeze my belly. Wish me luck. I don't have an exact plan as of now but I will work my tail off to lose my big tail. well that was dumb but oh well.
